Mental Health Billing Specialist

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative and a natural problem solver who enjoys working in an office setting.
Responsibilities include:
Responsible for preparation and submission of Medicaid, Medicare and Third Party billings, including weekly billings, end of month reports, client statements, and HCFAs.
Verifies insurance benefits for new and existing clients.
Performs data entry into our Electronic Health billing system.
Generate accurate client statements on a monthly basis.
Generate form letters to clients with past due accounts.
Follow-up on third-part denials (EOBs) upon receipt; resubmit as appropriate.
Research Billing Error Reports and make corrections.
Post ERA's; reconcile total posted in electronic health system actual ERA and deposit ticket.
Post client payments and reconcile to deposit ticket.
Enters payer data on computer; checks for errors and looks for missing data.
Maintains proper audit trail of entries to protect integrity of receivables system.
Provides a range of additional clerical services and coverage as required.
Represent the program in a positive and professional manner, both in the workplace and in the community.
Establishes mutually respectful rapport with other LSS staff, clients, and payer sources.
Participates in supervision/educational activities to enhance professional and job-related skills.
Assumes other appropriate duties, as assigned.
BASIC
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent plus technical skills equivalent to completion of one year of business training.
Previous experience working in a mental health setting is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of an Electronic Health System and Medicaid Billing System preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Must be compassionate, patient, and able to maintain professional boundaries.
Demonstrated ability to input data accurately in minimal time.
Previous related work experience is preferred.
Knowledge of general office procedures.
Knowledge of third party payer sources billing requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance).
Ability to appropriately service consumers and the general public.
Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, OMHAS and COA regulations.
Background screening, including OBCI fingerprints, drug test, and reference checks, is required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
