Role synopsis
The Learning & Development Superintendent leads the learning and development strategy for the Toledo Refinery. This position leads the Learning & Development Team in providing comprehensive training and development services including Fundamentals of Refining, Induction training for new employees, Health, Safety and Environmental Training, Process Safety Training, Refining Operations Technical Training, as well as Leadership, Professional Development and the Business Services of the FVC.
Key accountabilities
Leads development and implementation of overall training strategy for the Toledo Refinery by working with US FVC L&D; Leadership and with individual employees and their supervisors.
Advises leadership on L&D; issues and exercises influence across the FVC
to improve effectiveness of L&D; services.
Manages L&D; relationships both within and external to BP.
Develops and administers L&D; policy and goals consistent with the Toledo Refinery strategy.
Maintain company regulatory and compliance driven training.
Provides performance measurement and management for L&D; objectives.
Manages the L&D; budget.
Manages the Learning & Development team to deliver consistent, high quality, and effective programs that meet legal, regulatory and company
requirements, improve individual job performance, and deliver business results.
Devises strategy to remain current on advances in learning theory, design and delivery methods, and training industry best practices.
Develops processes, policies, and methods to deliver continuous improvement of L&D; infrastructure, services, and programs.
Essential Education
Bachelor's Degree required
Essential experience and job requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Track record of demonstrated strong leadership skills
Proven ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization, and to establish credibility and respect of employees, peers, managers, and leaders
Strong interpersonal, communication, planning & organizational skills
Proven record as a team leader; sets clear objectives and holds people accountable for delivery
Proven ability to drive change and to improve individual and business performance
Demonstration of BP Values & Bahaviors (Safety, Respect, Execution, courage, and One Team).
Understanding of Instructional Systems Designs or the equivalent.
Proficient with Microsoft applications.
Eligibility Requirements

Refining or Petrochemical experience preferred.
BA/BS in Education or related field is desired, technical degree with experience or training in field may be substituted.

As a result, the Toledo Refinery will have access to a reliable source of crude from North America and ensure the refinery''s future for years to come. BP also has large, modern refineries in Cherry Point, WA; and Whiting IN.
