Job summary
Conducts in and out patient registration interviews in person and from pre-registration forms. Gathers pre-registration information via telephone interviews. Enters data into computer system, prints registration forms, and attaches required documents for processing. Instructs patient on insurance regulations, testing locations and other related hospital services. Interprets written physician orders and correlates diagnosis accordingly. Responsible for screening of medical necessity and distribution of the Advanced Beneficiary Notice. Responsible for distribution and documentation of the Privacy Notice for HIPAA. Promotes strong customer focus in all areas.
1. Work requires a High School diploma, and current certification of completion for Medical Terminology.
Hospital Admitting/Registration experience preferred.
2. Excellent communication and grammar skills. Typing skills (45-50) WPM required. Experience with PC and data entry skills required.
3. Work requires a high level of interpersonal skill. Incumbent must be able to cordially, professionally and effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and other hospital personnel under stressful conditions. Must be able to relay complicated information in understandable language.
4. Work requires the ability to proofread registrations; retrieve, enter and revise data; process (compile and print) registrations and accurately spell medical and general words.
5. Ability to remain flexible is required. Incumbent must work quickly and demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks, since workload fluctuates.
6. Physical ability to transport patients via wheelchair.
7. Significant level of ability to work as part of a team with other staff members.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
